ABOUT
The Sunny Gattan Warrior Scholarship was founded by Sunny Gattan, FNP-C in 2022. The mission of this award is to support young women who have overcome difficulties in life and continue to excel in their academics. The Shamis Tate Warrior Scholarship is open to all majors as well as international students. This scholarship awards $1,000 to one student annually who meets the eligibility criteria as outlined below.
Eligibility Criteria:

A female student currently attending or accepted to an institution of higher learning. High school students, undergraduate students, and graduate students are invited to apply.

Minimum 4.0 GPA weighted

Submit an essay of 500 words recounting an experience of having to overcome a difficult scenario or what receiving the scholarship would mean to you

GOALS
The Sunny Gattan Warrior Scholarship has 3 primary goals:
1. Subsidize a portion of the expense of attending college for disadvantaged students
2. To encourage the understanding among future generations to know that part of success is sharing your success with others
3. Provide support for students to achieve their goals
About
The Founder
Sunny Gattan is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and entrepreneur based in Scottsdale, Arizona. She is well known not only for her professionalism, but also her compassion. Sunny and her team regularly executes philanthropic initiatives such as organizing food donations, clothing drives, and in person volunteering at homeless shelters.
Sunny was born and raised in Iraq until at the age of 11, her family moved to Sweden in response to The Gulf War. Her decision to study medicine came as no surprise as many of her family members worked in the medical field. Seeing the work her mother did as a nurse inspired her immensely. This coupled with Sunny's innate desire to see people get better served as Sunny's north star throughout her life.
Through the Sunny Gattan Warrior Scholarship, Shamis hopes to make it easier for young women with big goals to make their dreams a reality by providing the financial resources to subsidize their higher education endeavors.
